Coach Zaldivar attended Butler County and Emporia State where he obtained in BS in Social Science while playing football.  He then became a police officer and retired after serving the City of Shawnee for 27 years.  In addition, he was associated with MVJFCA for 6 years as a coach and board member.

Coach Zaldivar and his wife, Stephanie, have 4 children, Allison, 28 Derrick and Megan, 26, and Zach, 16.
