Coach Zaldivar played football at Butler County Community College and Emporia State where he obtained his degree in Social Science. He is a retired Shawnee Police officer where he served 27 years. He also coached in the MVJFCA program for 4 years and served on the board for 5 years.

Coach Zaldivar and his wife, Stephanie, have 4 children, Allison, Derrick, Megan, and Zach.
